Week Four…Here’s More

Image
So I know you must be saying “What happened to week 3?”. Well last Sunday was pretty busy and I totally forgot about doing the blog…sorry. But here’s this week’s blog (and there might be a bit from week 3 in here as well). So what did we learn this week? (or last week?) We learned that getting our own internet might be harder than we thought it would be. There are apartments in the complex that have mission-paid-for internet and have shared the login and password with the rest of us to use. But as you may have quickly guessed the connection isn’t great and the speed is poor. So we decided to look into getting our own internet. We found that they have prewired a coaxial cable connection in our front closet (and it looks like they are planning for future fiber optic as well, since a tube-like connection is pulled into there as well) so we found that it is for Xfinity. The cost was competitive and the speed is very good. So we signed up. They sent us the modem in the mail and I hooked it ...

Week 2…What’s new?

So what did we learn this week? Oh my…lots and lots!  We ended this week today, (although many would say that Sunday is the first day of the week and we shouldn’t be “ending our week” on this day. Like our good friends, the Hansen’s, this blog is written to our kids and grandkids and you are welcome to read it as well. But just know we will be referring to ourselves as mom and dad in here. 5 February 2023. So what did we learn this week? Our purpose is to... "Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."  That is the mission purpose. We dove right into the Preach My Gospel manual with Sister Port right after lunch (which of course included a glass... maybe it was two... of chocolate milk for Elder Phillips). We were in a district of 3 couples; us, the Thompsons from Pennsylvania and the Watsons from Alabama. We had some other wonderful orientation meetings where we got to introduce ourselves like 4 different times, where we learned that we are not nearly as “long-winded” as we thought we were. I think our ...
