Week Seventeen…The Biscuit and Hogs was Really Keen!

Aloha wonderful children. Let me tell you what we learned this week! Monday we had our “Disney Training” and as part of it we were supposed to go to some sort of store or service center and take pictures of things that speak  to their visitors. Our group chose the Church History Library  and we learned that you definitely see things differently when your purpose is different. We first visited this library our first week on the mission as part of our orientation. We learned then about what happens there and what missionary assignments were in that building. That’s all we were focused on then. This time, going to the building to see how it speaks  we saw it very differently. I noticed the very high ceiling and the very formal features of the entryway. They seemed to say that this place was very important and dignified and you need to behave yourself when you are in there. It houses tons of historical documents and items from allover the world. Pretty cool stuff. I think we ...

Week Sixteen…Part of the Disney Team!

Aloha everyone. We hope your week was great. Here’s what we learned this week… We started the week going to a new class. It is affectionately called Disney Training  by the library staff, because it is based on the training that Disney does for their employees as well as the training they do for any company that would like them to teach their employees about what makes Disney so successful, when it comes to their exceptional customer service. They have allowed the Family Search Library to add to the training, so there are of course quotes from general authorities as well as scriptures added to the lessons from the book, Be Our Guest.  We are being taught how to fulfill our purpose statement, which is… We create inspiring experiences that bring joy to all people as they discover, gather and connect their family - past, present, and future.  So we are learning how to be great customer service agents to bring joy to everyone that we come in contact with. Fun times! Tue...

Week Fifteen…Nowhere to be Seen!

Welcome to another week of what we learned. Monday started off with a great Mission Devotional. We were taught by some missionaries who were finishing their mission. One of them told us a great story about  Tuesday Mom had her appointment with the ophthalmologist at Primary Children’s Hospital. It was an early appointment and they were needing to dilate her eyes so she wouldn’t be able to drive herself home. So the plan was that I go for a ride and then meet her there to drive her home. I was goin to try riding my mountain bike and take the trail over to the hospital, but instead I decided to ride my road bike and go up Emigrant Canyon. I learned why people like to ride Emigrant Canyon road. It is not super steep and it has a great bike lane. Also I was reminded that Hogle Zoo is right there at the mouth of the canyon. We had some fun times going there when some of you kids were small.  I also saw this…a garage that collapsed because of the weight of the snow load on its roof....

Week Fourteen…So Much Green!

Here is what we learned this week! Monday morning we went to our assignment in the Family Search Library and when that was finished we headed over to the COB to attend the Mission Devotional. President Holmes spoke about a talk that President Nelson gave in the General Conference Leadership Meeting, March 31, 2022 entitled The Everlasting Covenant . We learned quite a bit about how President Nelson feels about the covenants we make with our Heavenly Father as well as where he started to get the concept for his emphasis on the Covenant Path. One thought stood out to me…  “All those who have made a covenant with God have access to a special kind of love and mercy. In the Hebrew language, that covenantal love is called hesed … Hesed has no adequate English equivalent… Hesed is a unique term describing a covenant relationship in which both parties are bound to be loyal and faithful to each other. A celestial marriage is such a covenant relationship. A husband and wife make a co...
