Week Thirty-nine…Halloween With All of Mine (Ours)

Image
Monday morning we got up early and Mom had a steroid epidural injection planned. We let the library know we would probably be in late, but they took Mom right in and she was the first procedure and everything went perfectly and we were able to get into the library to see the end of the Monday Devotional on the big screen  in he computer lab. I took this shot and then learned that I got the computer  screensaver in it. This is my favorite picture on screensavers for the library computers. You probably can’t read it, but it basically says there is no eating at your computers, please go to a break room for that. We learned when we got into the library that we had two genealogical societies visiting this week. One from Minnesota and the other was the Swedish American Geneologists.  It was very weird because they basically filled up about 2/3 of the computers on our floor, but they also brought with them their own specialists so we weren’t any more busy than usual. We learned ...

Week Thirty-eight…Staying Up Way Too Late!

Aloha everyone. Here is what we learned this week. We learned that we could add the Hallmark TV app to our Roku TV and of course have used it to watch the latest as well as some of the older Christmas movies that we haven’t seen. We usually start these movies at night after everything else has been done so we haven’t been getting to bed at our usual time. Ugh. Late nights mean less sleep overall which translates to be more tired during the day. We really need to be more disciplined with our movie watching. I of course blame it all on Mom who has been playing Christmas music for the last month and a half, but I guess I have to give some of the blame to the groundskeepers at the Conference Center as well. I am sure you remember an earlier post where we learned they had begun putting Christmas lights in their trees. Well, this week they started turning some of them on, I am sure they are testing them, but they forgot to turn some off right across the street from our apartment building. So...

Week Thirty-seven…I’ll Be Up ‘til Eleven.

Here we are, another week is “in the books”. I’m getting a late start on this post so I’m pretty sure my title will come true, if not later than that. Well, let’s get started. Here’s what we learned this week. We headed into the library at 8am Monday morning and learned that they had ripped all of the flowers out of the flower beds around the library and Church History Museum. Mom is soooooo excited. She is certain that hey will be replacing them with more Fall and Winter types of flowers…pansies and chrysanthemums and….we shall see. Once in the library we both went to work on our training, Mom on Italy and me on Norway. We also had an interview with our Zone Leaders and then we interviewed a couple of the missionaries in our zone. Semi-annually they do these interviews to see how everyone is doing, and since we are assistant zone leaders we are asked to help with the interviews. It’s fun. We get to sit for a half an hour with a missionary and get to know them better. There is a form w...

Week Thirty-six…First Christmas Flicks!

Another week has come and gone. Here’s what we learned this week… We started this week with saying goodbye to Brittany and the grandkids as they headed back down to Vegas. We actually said goodbye to them at the apartment and headed off to work while they packed up. Sami-mantha came Sunday night from Logan, where we learned she had been hanging out with her boyfriend, Jorge. I met him briefly. Seems like a great young man. She slept on the couch and after getting up went to the Minerva Teichert exhibit. She then came to the library and we decided to go to lunch together. We took her to the COB cafeteria. When we got outside we learned that it had started raining. None of us brought an umbrella. At least Mom and Sami had jackets, I was just in my shirt. As we walked it started raining harder. By the time we got to the COB I was pretty wet! We had lunch and then headed back to the library. It was raining even harder. When we got back the whole front of my shirt was drenched and rain...
