Week Sixty-one…It’s All About The Son!

Image
I didn’t take many pictures this week, so instead I am going to add pics about the Savior and what He is recorded to have done on each day of this Holy Week, and to especially focus on things that brought us joy. The scriptures state that on Monday the Savior came back to Jerusalem after His Triumphal Entry the day before, and came to the temple and cleansed it. This act reminds me of the cleansing that needs to be done in my temple. I have been given a beautiful body to take care of and need to constantly strive to make it a place He would be happy to come to. My body brings me joy. Joy to ride a bike and eat ice cream and, and… Monday morning we went into the library early to get the devotional up on the screen for everyone. We were floor leads most of the day, which is really a pretty easy job, since most of our missionaries are so responsible and make it to their assignments before they are supposed to be there. It truly is a joy to work with such dedicated people. The library was ...

Week Sixty…Lots of Little Fixies.

This was a strange week. Here’s what made it strange. We started Monday morning getting ready to go in for the Mission Devotional with Elder and Sister McKay and I suddenly remembered that the Atkins, who always are the floor leads on Monday and make sure the devotional is on the screen in the computer lab for those who don’t go to the COB for the devotional, were out of town and wouldn’t be there. I quickly looked at who was taking their spot as floor leads in the morning and realized they would probably not know they needed to get the devotional going there or even how to do it. So I took off and went down to the library early to get that all fixed and set up and ready for the 8am start. Mom followed a bit later. I was able to get it up and going and we had a great devotional. Elder McKay, who is the current Church Historian , is an especially dynamic speaker. I particularly enjoyed a couple of things he said…1) We are all a part of Heavenly Father’s take-a-child-to-work day. 2) From...

Week Fifty-nine…Super Tired All the Time!

Image
I know nine and time don’t rhyme perfectly, but it close enough for me. Here’s what we learned this week. I start this week with a digression. I learned on Monday that the brother who was sitting in front of me in Elders quorum last Sunday, that made some comments about the political nature of Daylight Saving Time  is Spencer Cox, the governor of Utah. The governor’s mansion is just a couple blocks away from our building, so his family is in our ward. In fact his wife is a new gospel doctrine class teacher. They are not frequent attenders, as his responsibilities take him away often, but learning that explained the big black, tinted-windowed Cadillac Escalade that I saw pulling into the Church parking lot a few weeks ago.  Now on with the week. We headed in at 8:30 for our shift on Monday morning. It was a bit breezy and cool, but not too bad weather wise. The floor was pretty normal as far as visitors go. We went up around 9:15 to greet our new missionaries, the Carpenters, a...
